Al Quran, Surah Al-Mumtahana (60), Verse 1

✦ Al Quran : O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth

✦ Hadith: Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri Radi Allahu Anhu : The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (inch by inch) so much so that if they had entered into the hole of the lizard, you would follow them in this also We said, "O Allah's Apostle! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians ?" He said, "Whom else (than those) ?"

✦ Narrated AbuHurairah Radi Allahu anhu : The Prophet SallallahuAlalhi wasallam said: A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend.

✦ Narrated Abdullah Radi Allahu Anhu : The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Everyone will be with those whom he loves."
